Safety and privacy on CougarConnex

Adult dating sites have a reputation for cutting corners on safety and privacy. Some of that reputation is deserved. This page explains specifically what CougarConnex does to protect members — not in vague marketing terms, but in the specific measures that actually make a difference to whether you're talking to a real person and whether your data is protected.

Profile verification and moderation

Every profile submitted to CougarConnex is reviewed by a human moderator before it goes live on the site. This team works around the clock — profiles aren't queued until business hours, they're reviewed continuously. Moderators are specifically trained to identify fake profiles, scam attempts, and profiles that don't meet site standards before they reach other members.

In addition to human review, we run anti-scam software that continuously cross-references profile information against known scammer data, trends, and patterns. Each member is assigned a risk rating based on this analysis. Profiles identified as high-risk are automatically flagged for close monitoring and removed if necessary. Profiles that are confirmed as scams or fake are removed immediately.

We also cross-reference profile information and photos against external sources including Google Image Search to identify profiles using stolen or misleading images. This is an additional layer of verification on top of human review rather than a replacement for it.

No system catches everything. But this combination — human moderation, automated software, and external cross-referencing — means the overwhelming majority of profiles you interact with on CougarConnex are genuine people with genuine intentions.

The report button

Every single profile on CougarConnex has a Report Profile button. If something about a profile seems wrong — suspicious behaviour, profile information that doesn't add up, inappropriate contact — use it. Reports go directly to the moderation team. Every report is investigated. Actions taken range from sending a warning to immediately removing the account, depending on what's found.

Reporting a profile is confidential — the person you report is not told who reported them.

Your data and privacy

CougarConnex operates in compliance with GDPR — the European data protection framework that sets some of the strictest privacy standards in the world. Your personal data is collected only for the purposes you've agreed to, stored securely, and never sold or shared with third parties for marketing purposes.

Passwords are stored using current encryption protocols that cannot be decrypted — not by scammers, not by us. Payment systems are certified to current security standards and tested regularly. Any personal or payment data transmitted through the site is encrypted in transit using SSL.

Billing descriptions on bank and card statements use a discreet company name rather than anything that identifies CougarConnex. If discretion about your use of the site matters, this is handled at the payment level rather than requiring you to manage it yourself.

Your profile privacy controls

You control what's visible on your profile. Photos can be set to visible to all members, visible only to members you approve, or not shown at all until you choose to share them. Contact settings let you control who can message you. You can block any member who contacts you inappropriately.

Your exact location is never shared — the distance filter shows approximate proximity without revealing your precise address or any other identifying location information.

Keeping yourself safe — practical advice

Platform-level safety measures handle a lot, but some things are in your hands. A few things worth doing regardless of which dating site you use.

Take your time before sharing personal contact information outside the site. The messaging system is there for a reason — using it until you're comfortable with someone provides a layer of separation that you lose once you've moved to personal phone numbers or email addresses.

Trust your instincts. If a profile or a conversation feels off — pressure to move quickly, requests for money or gift cards, stories that don't quite add up — it's usually off. Report it and move on rather than trying to work out whether you're being too cautious.

When meeting someone for the first time, meet in a public place. Tell someone you trust where you're going. This is standard advice for any online dating and it applies here too.

If something happens on or off the site that you want to report — inappropriate contact, a scam attempt, or anything else — the support team is available through the support function in your account. Real people respond.

Questions about safety or privacy

If you have questions about how your data is used, want to request access to the information we hold about you, or have any other privacy-related queries, contact the support team through your account. Requests are handled in accordance with GDPR requirements.
